One kidney survival 80 year old grandpa
It is to be reported that my maternal grandfather had found blood on his urine, and later it was diagnosed as cancer in one kidney in the year 2017. So doctor has removed one kidney, and later it was found that the cancer has not spread to other parts of his body luckily. Thus, he is surviving with one kidney as of now. His Creatinine level is always fluctuate between 1.5-2.0, he is also suffering from uric acid issue so he is taking Febutaz 40, now the level came down to 2.8. For CKD, he is taking only Nefrosave Forte twice. Is there any modifications or extra tablet to be taken?

They say God has given us two kidneys so that we can donate one and help others right. Which means, one kidney os enough to support our life and do the job. Your grandfather has a single kidney with CKD in it as the creatinine is around 1.5 to 2. Do not worry about it at all. This kidney will support him well for the next 6 to 7 years without much trouble
Next Steps
Continue same medicines Keep sugars and BP under control Eat kidney friendly diet Check for protein leak in urine and Bicarbonate levels in blood

Hi . Generally people with one kidney can live like other people. For the kidney to have good function, if he has diabetes it should be under control. His blood pressure should be under control. Also check his urine for any protein and get a urine protein creatinine ratio. Also diet and medications Should  be optimised..if everything of the above  is good his kidney function should remain stable.
Next Steps
regularly follow up with  a Nephrologist so he can see if all parameters are ok
