It can be geriatric psychological issues. It's quite common in elderly people. The size of the brain gets atrophy and can lead to such symptoms. It can be well treated with counseling sessions and homeopathic medicine effectively if required. Her concern needs to be addressed in a holistic approach.

Hi, It is possible that this 84-year-old woman is experiencing symptoms of paranoia or delusional disorder. Her belief that her key was stolen by her neighbors, despite evidence to the contrary, and her extreme distrust of those around her, including her own family, suggest that she may be experiencing some form of distorted thinking. Additionally, her insistence on involving politicians and religious figures in her search for the key, as well as her disruptive behavior and concerns about potential theft and damage to her property, are all signs of potential mental health issues. It is important for her to consult with a mental health professional to assess her symptoms and provide appropriate support and treatment. In the meantime, steps should be taken to ensure her safety and well-being, such as providing additional security measures for her home and monitoring her behavior closely.

This lady's case seems to be of age-related delusions and hence it appears to be a mental health issue. There seems to be a possibility of the lady suffering from Alzheimer's Disease too. The most important thing while dealing with her behaviour and actions is to recognise the inconsistencies in them as a fallout of her mental health conditions. Unfortunately, in our today's social environment, it is very unlikely that those closely connected with her will understand and acknowledge her as a person with impaired mental health. With all these, I would suggest taking her to a psychiatrist for the assessment and treatment (if required) of her condition of mental health. I feel that counselling, even by professional psychologists, is not likely to alter her actions and behaviour right now. Maybe it will work once her condition is improved by the psychiatrist's intervention.
