Hi,
My 6 days old newborn had bilirubin count 14 at birth
After 24hrs phototherapy, the count became 9.8
Today (6th day) the count is 18. He has been put for another 24hrs phototherapy.
He was 2.98kg when born and currently is 3.70kg.
I've been breastfeeding him but he seems very lethargic and sleepy.. sucks for few times and falls asleep. Can you please amswer these queries:
1. How do i know if he's being fed enough of milk to clear bilirubin?
2. Is lethargy expected at this age? I read babies sleep upto 20hrs a day and was thinking of it as something normal.
3. Is this level of bilirubin life-threatening?
