I suppose vaccine should be taken. Third wave is going to stay for at least 2 months. If he gets exposure (2 weeks) after vaccination it will be a mild infection.

Hello ma'am, Better to get them vaccinated. Make them wear double surgical mask and if possible n95 over it, before you take them to hospital and for vaccination a designated time is given when you book vaccination, so make sure you don't book in any big major hospitals as they are more corwded than smaller one and during such hours like evening when opd closes so people are less or early morning or just before lunchtime where morning patients are gone. And lastly it is area specific, so you must be more aware about which hospital to visit in your area.
Next Steps
Get your kids vaccinated when vaccine is available, we have all seen last year when vaccine was given, people did not take And then it was not available, so better take it when now.
Health Tips
make kids wear double mask and follow all safety precautions when you take them for vaccination.
