Hello I'm a nursing student from a BMC hospital in Mumbai ,today I was assisting a doctor in conducting normal delivery and the patient was HbsAg positive and due to some reasons the doctors decided to deliver the baby using outlet forcep and unfortunately little amniotic fluid splashed on my face at the time of delivery (I was wearing PPE like cap, mask, long gown ,foot cover ,I was not wearing any glasses ) And immediately I washed my face under running water . So now I want to know am I at risk what am I supposed to do immediately?

Sister, have you completed Anti HBV vaccine course of 3 vaccines? If not, take single dose of it now. And test for your blood level of Anti HBsAg antibodies. If its more than 10 then you are safe. One more thing you can do is; do patients HBeAg levels. If its less, then patient is not much infective.
Health Tips
Always take complete universal precautions in known cases.

No you're not. Relax. You can get the report of HBsAg done after a week. There's nothing to worry.
