baby is only 21 days old, don't worry about weight.

U haven't mention baby,s weight now. Normally weight increases 25 to 30 gm daily . This curd like vomiting is normal. Pls give your milk as much as possible.. otherwise baby will be more interested in bottle feed as it is easier for baby to suck from bottle. Proper burping aftet each feed is also very much needed . This will reduce vomitings.
Next Steps
keep ur baby exclusively on your feed.if possible. You take a good diet to increase the milk secretion.
Health Tips
always keep at least one hour gap between two feeds.
Is the baby frequently passing plenty of pale-coloured urine?
Is the baby passing 1-6 liquid stools per day ?
Is the baby gaining weight?
If answer to above questions is yes, the baby is getting enough milk
Soon after birth, there is about 10% weight loss in most babies. Then the birth weight is regained by 10-14 days. In a term baby, the initial weight gain may be 10-40 g/day. The weight gain during infancy is as follows:
Weight gain in the first 3 months = 200 g/week (after regaining birth weight)
Weight gain in the next 3 months = 150 g/week
Weight gain in the next 6 months = 100 g/week
When babies are born the strength of the muscle which holds the food contents in stomach is not yet fully developed so whatever feeds the the New Babies take they tend to spit some of it out.. As the baby grows the strength of the muscle improves and starting 6months of age this problem start's disappearing.. If the vomiting is large and hampering babies growth u might need some medications..
Next Steps
Babies tend to take in a lot of air during feeding. This will lead to abdominal distension, colics, regurgitation etc. To get rid of this, the mother has to do ‘winding’ or burping. The baby can be put on the left shoulder, the head has to be supported with mother’s left hand and then with the right arm support the buttocks and gently pat on the baby’s back with the right hand. Do this for atleast 15-20min even if baby has burped once. Slowly air will escape and the baby will become comfortable. Burping can also be done in other positions, e.g., place the baby prone in the mother’s lap and gently pat on the back.
Health Tips
1. Raise the head end of baby's bed by 30 degree.
2. Give good 15-20min of burping post feeds.
3. Increase the calorie content of feed and make it more thicker.
4. Give Small frequent feeds rather than large feeds.
