Considering her age it would be good if do a full body check up as at this age there can be issues with multiple thing like BP/Diabetes/Thyroid/Calcium. Accordingly a physician would suggest medication and then a physiotherapy treatment for the strengthening of muscles would be good

Ask her to go for thyroid test (T3,T4, TSH) checked . Need to take MRI of the spine. The problem what she's having is spinal radiculopathy.
