My mom need a psychiatry cosult
My mother is 47 years old. She has diabetes, fatty liver, and high cholesterol. She doesn't always take her medication. She sometimes experiences sudden chest pain and shortness of breath. We've had to take her to the doctor several times. After applying an oxygen mask, she usually feels alright. Her heart tests (echo and ECG) were normal. I have been taking care of her for the past two months. Her sugar is under control, but lately she sleeps a lot. She says she doesn't feel anything. She has experienced a lot of trauma throughout her life, until about five years ago. I think she is depressed. Her physician prescribed antidepressants, but she still sleeps a lot. I hope you can provide an online psychiatry consultation. Plzz help right know she doesnt know she is on anti depressants she lives near patna does i need to consult a doctor near her or i can consult any psychiatry from india

Hello Sir You mother might be suffering from depressive disorder with anxiety symptoms And in this case, informing her about the illness as well as treatment is good So that she can understand better and improves better As just eating antidepressants won't work like a paracetamol reducing fever, the patient should have the adequate knowledge about it, so as to get better help from the medicines and also might require counseling or therapy for faster improvement
Next Steps
kindly consult online for further management and treatment

Hello, It sounds like your mother may be experiencing a combination of medical and psychological issues. Given her history of trauma, physical health conditions (diabetes, fatty liver, high cholesterol), and current symptoms (excessive sleep, emotional numbness, lack of awareness about her antidepressants), it’s very likely she is suffering from major depressive disorder—which can often present with fatigue and vague physical complaints. It’s important to note that the chest pain and breathlessness, especially with normal heart tests, may also be linked to anxiety or somatization.
Next Steps
a. You can consult any licensed psychiatrist online across India. Many platforms like Mfine, Practo, or Tata Health offer online psychiatry consultations even in remote areas like near Patna. b. Preferably, have her seen by a psychiatrist who can coordinate with a physician, considering her other comorbidities and current medication. c. If she’s unaware of her antidepressants, it’s important to involve her in understanding her treatment gradually and gently, with family support and possibly counseling. d. If her symptoms worsen (e.g., refusal to eat, suicidal thoughts, confusion), take her for an immediate in-person psychiatric evaluation.
Health Tips
Don’t abruptly stop any current medications. If she continues to be excessively drowsy, ask the psychiatrist to review the dose or type of antidepressant, as some can cause sedation, especially in middle-aged women. Consider engaging a psychologist or counselor alongside medical treatment for trauma-informed therapy.
