It’s not uncommon for young children to become quiet or withdraw when they feel upset or are asked about their emotions. This can be a normal part of their development, especially if they’re still learning to express their feelings. However, if this behavior persists and you’re concerned about her emotional well-being, consulting a COUNSELING psychologist could be helpful. My experience is extensively with children of such tender age. Please consider reaching out to a professional for a thorough evaluation and tailored advice.

It's understandable that you're concerned about your daughter's reluctance to express herself when scolded or asked about her feelings. At her age, children are still developing their emotional and communication skills, and they might struggle to articulate their thoughts and emotions. Some steps you can take to support her: 1. Model Emotional Expression: Show her how to express emotions by doing it yourself. Use simple language to describe your feelings and why you feel that way. 2. Use Play and Stories: Children often find it easier to express themselves through play or storytelling. Use dolls, puppets, or storybooks to explore different emotions and scenarios with her. 3. Ask Open-Ended Questions: Instead of direct questions that might feel confrontational, use open-ended questions like, "Can you tell me more about what happened?" or "How did that make you feel?"
Next Steps
If her reluctance to express herself continues or worsens, consider consulting a psychologist.

It seems to be selective mutism or autistic traits. It needs to be ruled out asap and addressed asap otherwise it may get complicated. It can be well treated with counseling sessions and homeopathic medicine effectively and without any side effects. Homeopathic medicine would be the best solution for your kid. Occupational therapy and speech therapy would add to the recovery. You need an expert Psychologist who is a good homeopathic physician.

Hi, It's not uncommon for young children to have difficulty expressing their emotions, especially when they feel upset or overwhelmed. At the age of five, children are still developing their emotional and communication skills. When a child consistently goes mute or withdraws instead of communicating, it can be a sign that they are struggling to process their feelings or do not feel safe expressing them. This behavior might be a phase, but it's important to address it constructively. Encourage open communication in a calm and supportive manner, letting her know that her feelings are valid and that it's okay to talk about them. If this pattern continues and significantly impacts her daily life or your family dynamics, consulting a child psychologist can provide valuable insights and strategies to help her develop healthy ways to express herself. Early intervention can be beneficial in fostering her emotional growth and ensuring she feels understood and supported.
