Your baby's urination frequency of 8-10 times daily suggests she is likely getting enough milk. By 5 days old and beyond, a baby should have at least six heavy, wet diapers in 24 hours with pale, clear urine.
Frequent feeding and not sleeping in a bed are normal for a 40-day-old, as babies often need to nurse 8-12 times in 24 hours, sometimes in clusters, to stimulate milk production and for comfort. This behavior does not necessarily mean an inadequate milk supply.
To assess if your baby is growing well, also look for these signs:
Steady weight gain (regaining birth weight by 10-14 days and gaining 155-240 grams per week afterward).
Contentment and alertness after feeds.
Soft, yellow/mustard-colored stools (at least 3-4 per day in the first few weeks/months
