Mucormycosis timeline
Hi I was covid positive on 21 April and after 5 days of antibiotics and antiparasitic , I was given steroid wysolone 20mg for 3 days due to asthma and wheezing problems . I am on ferrocot inhaler. After reading about rise in mucormycosis , wanted to enquire what is duration of steroid use that makes people susceptible to this infection? Any symptoms look out for?

Mucormycosis is mostly common in immunocompromised and uncontrolled diabetics patients. Short duration of steroids will not lead to this disease except in rare circumstances. Most common symptoms will be fever, nasal sinusitis, eye discharge or swelling.

Don't worry. Use of steroid for longer duration may cause systemic fungal infection. You had a short course of steroid. Hope you will be all right.
