Hello, I understand how uncomfortable persistent throat mucus can be—thank you for describing your symptoms clearly. Based on what you've shared, here are some possible causes and next steps: ✅ Possible Reasons: Post-nasal drip (from allergies, sinusitis, or cold) Mild viral infection with residual inflammation Acid reflux (GERD) causing throat irritation Lymph node swelling could be reactive to a recent infection or inflammation --- 💊 General Advice & Medicines (under medical supervision): 1. Steam inhalation – 2–3 times a day to loosen mucus 2. Warm saltwater gargles – twice daily 3. Tablet Levocetirizine 5 mg at night – if any allergy symptoms 4. Mucolytic syrup (like ambroxol or bromhexine-based) – to help clear mucus 5. Pantoprazole 40 mg before breakfast – if reflux symptoms like acidity or burping are present --- 📍 About the neck lymph node: A small, painless swelling can occur due to throat inflammation or a viral infection. It usually settles in 7–10 days. If it grows in size, becomes painful, or persists beyond 2 weeks, do consult in person for an ENT or physician review. --- 🔍 Next Steps: If symptoms continue beyond a week despite the above measures, or if the lymph node enlarges: Get a throat examination Basic tests like CBC, ESR, and if needed, a neck ultrasound may be advised --- 🧘‍♂️ Lifestyle Tips: Stay hydrated (warm fluids help) Avoid spicy, oily, and cold food Practice breathing exercises and reduce screen time at night --- Wishing you a smooth and complete recovery. For personalized care, I’m happy to help via online consult as well. Warm regards, Dr. Aditya Reddy

You should get Nebulization done at least twice every day. In the meantime you can start gargling . Personally I find it difficult to imagine that you have mucus in your throat but you don't have a cough.

Persistent throat mucus for 20 days with minimal cough is most likely due to postnasal drip or a mild upper respiratory tract infection. The small neck lymph node may be reactive — a common response to ongoing irritation or mild infection. Advice: Try saline nasal spray and steam inhalation. An antihistamine (like levocetirizine) and mucolytic (like ambroxol) may help. Stay hydrated and avoid allergens. If the lymph node persists or enlarges, consult an ENT for further evaluation..

What is this mucus likely due to? Mucus in the throat for a prolonged time (20 days) with little or no cough is often caused by: Postnasal drip (mucus from the nose dripping down the throat) Mild chronic upper airway infection Allergy or sinusitis Sometimes, acid reflux (GERD) can also lead to throat mucus. Why do you feel a lump (lymph node) in your neck? When your throat or nose is irritated or infected, the body's immune system may respond by enlarging nearby lymph nodes, which are small glands that help fight infection. A small node in the neck that appeared recently (3 days) is most likely reactive—a temporary response to infection or inflammation. Is it dangerous? Most of the time, it is not serious if: The node is small (under 1.5 cm) Soft and mobile No other symptoms like weight loss, high fever, or night sweats. But if the node keeps growing, becomes hard, or is painful, get it checked. 💊 What You Can Do: Home Tips: Drink warm fluids (like ginger tea or warm water). Do steam inhalation twice daily. Try saline nasal rinse if you suspect postnasal drip. Medicines (only after consulting a doctor): Antihistamine (e.g., Levocetirizine): Helps if it’s allergy-related. Mucolytic (e.g., Ambroxol): Helps loosen the mucus. Proton Pump Inhibitor (e.g., Pantoprazole): If you have signs of acidity or reflux. Nasal steroid spray (for postnasal drip or sinus inflammation, if advised by ENT). 📅 When to See a Doctor: If the mucus persists beyond 3-4 weeks If the lymph node gets bigger or painful If you get fever, weight loss, or night sweats You may need an ENT (Ear-Nose-Throat) checkup or a throat swab if not improving ✅ Reassurance: This seems to be a mild upper airway or allergic issue, common and usually treatable. The lymph node swelling is likely a normal immune response, but monitor it for changes. Let me know if you have other symptoms like acidity, sinus pressure, or nasal blockage—I can guide more precisely. Mark HELPFUL 🙂🙂🙂
