MPFL Tear Treatment
Met with a sports injury playing Football. Left knee turned outwards laterally. Knee swell up immediately after 2-3 hours. First MRI was done 4.5 days later while knee was still swollen up. MRI report showed lot of bleeding inside. But showed a Complete MPFL tear, some bone bruising internally but other Ligaments as fine. Doc suggested MPFL reconstruction. Took 2nd opinion with another Orthopedic who examined physically and told surgery is too hasty a decision. Aspirated some blood out and told to wait until swelling subsides completely. Checked physically patellar movement and confirmed no patella dislocation, neither was it dislocated during injury. Told me to start doing knee presses for ensuring right healing. 1. I am on the 11th day of my injury, my swelling has reduced but it's almost stuck at it for past 1.5 days. Swelling is not localized though. 2. There is no pain in resting position as such. Any advice as to how i should proceed?

Wait for 6 weeks, start walking. If there is patellar instability, then think of a MPFL reconstruction. In case there are other meniscus, ACL issues, they can be taken care off too.
