Monkey attacked & scratched me on 23rd oct.Blood was visible. After 3 hrs i could wash the wound.I just washed it 3–4 times with soap & not for 15 mins as is recommended. After 6 hrs on recommendation of doctor got tetvac & anti rabies vaccine ABHAYRAB.i am prescribed 5 dose schedule.I then consulted few doctors for any risk & they all told its enough.I washed my wound again for 3–4 minutes 6 hours post exposure & again for 10 minutes under running water13 hours post exposure. After this i felt much lesser burning & itching in the area.As i was not satisfied enough,On 24th oct night 10:30 pm i consulted a doctor for immunoglobulin.Around 11pm i.e. after 36 hrs post exposure he gave me immunoglobulin named EQUIRAB 1500 IU half in the wound & other half around hip. However i found later that the recommended dosage of equirab is 40IU/Kg.I m 75kg.The dose should have been 40x75=3000IU.Should i get another shot of EQUIRAB 1500IU to make it 3000 IU to be 100 % sure?Washing was delayed as well.
