Medicine regarding
“Over the past 5 days, I have been asking about my risk after having oral sex with a male partner and protected anal sex (with a condom). I did not know my partner’s HIV status, so I became anxious and started taking PEP for the last 4 days. I have now contacted my partner and taken him for a rapid HIV test, and his result came back negative. What should I do now? Should I continue the medication? I am also concerned about side effects if I continue it for 28 days. Please advise.”

Based on the clinical situation you've described, there is very reassuring news. Since your partner (the source person) has tested Negative for HIV on a rapid test, and your exposure was already low-risk (protected anal sex and oral sex), the medical indication for continuing PEP (Post-Exposure Prophylaxis) is no longer present. According to standard CDC and WHO guidelines, if the source person is confirmed to be HIV-negative, PEP can be safely discontinued. There is no clinical benefit to completing the 28-day course in this scenario, and stopping now will prevent any further potential side effects from the medication."
Next Steps
Safe Discontinuation: You can stop taking the PEP medication immediately. You do not need to 'taper' the dose; simply stop taking the tablets. Baseline Confirmation: Although the partner is negative, it is a good clinical practice to get a baseline 4th Generation HIV p24 Ag/Ab test for yourself now, and another one at 6 weeks just to officially close the case for your own peace of mind. Partner's Window Period: Confirm if your partner had any other high-risk exposures in the last 4 weeks. If not, his negative result is highly reliable.

Your exposure was already low risk and partner’s rapid test being negative is reassuring 👍 continue or stop PEP decision depends on timing and partner history best reviewed once in consult.

If your partners hiv test is negative, then your chances of hiv is negligible. Not stop pep ,if bichance happens ,so its protected in that case.no major side effects only nausea ,sometimes laziness, otherwise ok.
