Please consult a General Physician in your area for confirmation of the diagnosis. I hope you are not pregnant at this stage. That medicine is contraindicated for pregnant women. Smallpox has been eradicated from India since 1976

Hello, chicken pox is a viral disease. You should start with medicines such as acyclovir/valcyclovir. But, ideally they should be started after a proper physical consultation with a physician for proper evaluation and assessment.

There is no antibiotic that cures chickenpox (varicella). Chickenpox is a viral infection, and antibiotics act only against bacteria, not viruses.

Chickenpox is viral, antibiotics are NOT needed. Acyclovir helps only if started within 48–72 hours of rash onset.Otherwise, treatment is symptomatic (paracetamol, antihistamine, calamine). Do not scratch lesions to prevent scarring/infection. You can consult with me via Practo if needed.

You can take antiviral like acyclovir.  But that is effective when started within 48 to 72 hours at the most.As such if it is chicken pox, it will resolve within 7 to 10 days. Just do not scratch the eruptions directly, it can cause infection, use a soft tissue for scratching.  do not manually break them, that will cause scarring. Take meds for itching, or any other associated symptom.

You have to take Antiviral (like Acyclovir or Valacyclovir)drug for pox. Antibiotic is added to prevent secondary infection. Also take  multivitamin and immunity booster. Symptomatic drugs as per your symptoms. Also have plenty of fluid to maintain hydration. Isolation is also required.

Antibiotics do NOT cure chickenpox (varicella) or smallpox. Chickenpox is caused by a virus, so antibiotics will not make it heal faster. The correct medicine for chickenpox is an antiviral, not an antibiotic. ⸻ Correct Treatment for Chickenpox 1. Antiviral (Most Important) • Acyclovir (or Valacyclovir) ✔ Reduces severity, number of lesions, fever, and complications ✔ Works best if started within 24–48 hours of rash onset 2. Supportive Care • Paracetamol for fever/pain • Calamine lotion for itching • Adequate fluids and rest ⸻ When Are Antibiotics Used? Antibiotics are used ONLY if there is a secondary bacterial infection, such as: • Pus-filled lesions • Increasing redness, swelling, severe pain • High fever not settling In that case, antibiotics are chosen after examination. ⚠️ Do NOT self-start antibiotics — unnecessary use can worsen outcomes.
Next Steps
• Avoid aspirin and ibuprofen • Avoid scratching (prevents scars and infection) • Isolate until all lesions crust over

Chickenpox is a viral infection, so antibiotics do not cure it and are not needed. For faster recovery, focus on supportive care: rest, fluids, paracetamol for fever, calamine lotion for itching, and avoid scratching. An antiviral medicine may be needed if the rash is severe, or you are an adult/pregnant/immunocompromised. Please consult a doctor for that.

Actually small pox is unlikely as it was eradicated. But a consultation would help to clear the doubt. For Chicken pox we can use Acyclovir. It is the antiviral of choice in chicken pox. Others we can treat symptomatically.
Next Steps
Patient should be isolated to prevent spreading of disease and show to a doctor, either through procto or other else. The diagnosis can be made through the signs and symptoms so, showing a doctor is a much need next step.
Health Tips
In either case take caution not to spread the disease. If the rash is more predominantly on chest and back and also in palms and sole, consult a doctor asap

Hello ! It is first recommended to consult a doctor to diagnose chicken pox . However in India , elders at home usually detect a chicken pox , but it might sometimes mimic other skin conditions . Chicken pox is caused due to a virun And hence antivirals are preferred . Antibiotics are prescribed only if there is a super added infection. Usually the lesions settle on their own within 2 weeks . If they do not then intervention is required . Drink plenty of water and do not scratch or try to burst the lesions which will only worsen it .
