FOR Myocardial infarction or better to say coronary artery diease ( CAD ) early detection  coronary  angiography test is the  gold standard test to detect any blockage in coronary arteries ( which supply blood to heart muscles)  The blockage of coronary artery gives rise to damage to cardiac muscle , from angina ( chest pain ) to frank MI( Myocardial infarction ) . other tests are ECG ,cardiac enzymes but they are helpful in acute attacks. Treadmil ecg can also help in early diag not is not specific to know which artery is blocked. Of course you have to see a cardiologist to evaluate its need or not , ie the risk factors for having CAD . There are risk factors which give rise to CAD . Though angiography is safe procedure its expensive and needs hospitalisation for a day or two.
