Manic Depressive Psychosis- since 1983.
Wife is an MDP patient. sustaining on Licab. Now it is becoming difficult to maintain the optimum Li level in blood. Manic Episodes are becoming more and more difficult. Depressive stage is not seen right since the beginning. Depakote was tried but not effective and it was counter productive. Any alternatives??

Greetings. Well, in that case ask your doctor to introduce  an anti Psychotic medication such as either olanzapine or quetiapine or aripiprazole to control the manic episodes and this will prevent any further increment in dose of lithium , in fact it can be lowered in dose once the manic episodes have been ably controlled.
