Macfolate in early pregnancy
Hi doctor, I was trying to conceive from last 6 months. And was taking macfolate From last 2 days i have missed my period. I think I am pregnant now. Could you please guide if macfolate can be continued or shall I take any other folic acid tablet.

Continue till pregnancy is confirmed.later the dose may need to be modified and other supplements added as per the gynaecologists advice Do visit a gynaecologist as soon as pregnancy is confirmed.

Dear patient First you need to confirm pregnancy by UPT (URINE PREGNANCY TEST ) Folic acid supplementation is given to prevent occurance of NTD (NEURAL FUBE DEFECTS ) Folic acid supplementation (4mg/day ) starting 4 weeks prior to conception up to 12 weeks of pregnancy is advised

tab macfolate contains only 1 mg of folate ..and the recommended dose is 4 mg till 12 weeks of pregnancy(this dosage will be less if you are taken macfolate once a day only )kindly consult your attending gynaecologist
