A lymph node acts a filter and prevents the infection/ disease from spreading to the rest of the body. Because it is painful, it may not be something to worry about. It may resolve but can take a few days or weeks to do so. Please consult a ENT surgeon or your doctor to get a proper evaluation of your symptoms and get the right treatment for it.
best wishes
