Hello, Heaviness in the head and loss of sense of smell with a preceding history of fever (temp was 100 degree F) and acute headache may be indicative of acute sinus infection . Steam inhalation and hot compress are good supportive measures but you need a proper nasal evaluation. Occasionally loss of sense of smell is linked to polyps occuring inside the nasal cavity in allergic sinus problems. For that a CT scan may be required to asses the degree of polyps. A consultation is mandatory for proper treatment.
