What you are experiencing — forgetfulness, difficulty focusing, slow thinking, and getting lost in thoughts — is a very well-known effect of chronic stress and anxiety. When the mind is constantly occupied with worry and fear, it consumes mental resources that are needed for memory and alertness. The good news is that this is not permanent brain damage; the brain is highly adaptable and these symptoms do improve significantly once the underlying stress and anxiety are properly addressed through the right support.
