Loose motions
Hi my daughter is of 26 days she is suffering from loose motions from 2 days our local doctor gave ofloxacin and metronidazole suspension with dosage of 5drops for every 6 hrs is it recommendable as there was a note on the bottle indicating drug may lead to low blood sugar and mental health related side effects I'm worried please suggest me whether to continue with the medicine or not. I have used to doses of this medicine for baby her motions quantity got reduced but still she is having motions with less quantity

generally antibiotics are not recommended at this age. Pls contact pediatrician for physical examination of baby and give regular feeds. Watch for urine output if baby passing urine 4-5 times a day then it's ok.

I don't think we will need ofloxacin and metronidazole in 26 days old baby with loose stool.In a 26 day old babies frequency of stool can be as high as 10-12 times  which is also normal provided urine and feeding is good  .

If your doctor has suggested the medicine and your child is responding then u can continue for the number of days he has said. Dont worry for the side effects.
