An MRI of the shoulder may be necessary to make the diagnosis. However it is better that a shoulder specialist sees her first

Understood. In that case, for a 66-year-old with shoulder pain for one month without injury, the most common causes are rotator cuff inflammation/degeneration or early frozen shoulder initial evaluation should include a shoulder X-ray, and if pain persists or movement becomes more restricted, an MRI shoulder to look at tendons. treatment can be medication-based initially pain relievers short course anti-inflammatory drugs local gel heat application activity modification. if pain continues despite medicines, targeted injections like steroid injection into the shoulder) may be considered after proper diagnosis.
