Hello doctors. I'm a 36 year old single, working woman. For the past few days I have been having some pain on the left side of my left breast which hurts only when something hits it or if I tap on the place. I normally sleep turning to the left side. This winter when it was horribly cold I slept in a completely round way such that somehow the bone of my hand fell on the left side of my breast. Following that, I have been consistently hurt there, by other people's elbows when I board crowded public buses. Now there is a brownish mark there, similar to a blood clot mark and hurts when something hits the clot like mark/if I stretch a lot or if there is any jerking of the vehicle I'm using to reach the office. I have checked but there is no pimpling/orange peel like texture/redness or any other external swelling. Although I never noticed before but it seems now the left breast is marginally larger than the right one. Now my question is should I be worried? What should I do? Any medicines?

Based on your history, the pain appears likely related to repeated local trauma or contusion rather than a serious breast pathology.

Health Tips
Brownish discoloration can occur due to minor internal bruising. Avoid repeated pressure to the area and use proper support. Do not ignore persistent symptoms

Based on the symptoms described:
Most likely causes
Soft tissue injury / bruise (hematoma)
Repeated pressure or impact can injure the breast tissue, causing pain and discoloration.
Chest wall or muscle strain (costochondral pain)
Pain that worsens with stretching, movement, or jerks is commonly muscular.
Non-cyclical mastalgia (benign breast pain)
Often follows injury or inflammation and is usually harmless.
Slight size difference in the left breast
Mild breast asymmetry is very common and normal
Temporary inflammation after injury can make one side appear slightly larger.
✔️ No need to panic
Avoid tight bras
Avoid sleeping on the left side
Protect the area from repeated pressure or impact
✔️ Pain relief:
Apply warm compresses twice daily
Use a mild painkiller if needed (after medical advice).

Hello. I understand why this is worrying, especially when the pain is persistent and it involves the breast. Please be reassured first â based on your description, this does NOT sound like breast cancer.
Your symptoms are very suggestive of a localized soft-tissue injury / bruise (hematoma) or chest wall pain, caused by:
Repeated pressure and minor trauma (sleeping position, elbow hits in crowded buses)
Cold weather causing muscle stiffness
Repeated impact on the same spot, preventing proper healing
The brownish mark you describe is consistent with a resolving bruise (old blood under the skin). Such bruises can remain painful for weeks, especially when pressed, stretched, or jolted.
Pain occurs only when touched or hit
No redness, skin thickening, nipple changes, or discharge
No lump felt
No âorange peelâ appearance
No continuous or deep internal pain
These features go against serious breast pathology.
Avoid pressure on the left side while sleeping (try right side or back)
Wear a well-supportive bra
Avoid repeated tapping/checking the area
Apply warm compresses once or twice daily (helps absorption of bruising)
Avoid carrying heavy bags on that side
From a holistic / homeopathic perspective ð¿:
Such pain often responds well when the tissue trauma and sensitivity are addressed constitutionally, along with general healing support. However, treatment should be individualized, not self-medicated.

Hello,
Based on your description, this pain appears more likely related to local trauma / pressure to the breast or underlying muscles, especially since it hurts only on touch or movement and you noticed a bruise-like mark. This is commonly seen after repeated pressure, minor injury, or strain and does not immediately suggest anything serious.
Mild asymmetry between breasts is also very common and usually normal, especially when there is local inflammation or tenderness on one side.
However, since the pain has persisted for a few days and there is discoloration, it is important not to self-medicate or ignore it. A proper evaluation is needed to understand whether it is muscular, fatty tissue injury, or breast tissue sensitivity.
Homoeopathy can be very helpful in such cases, but the medicine depends on detailed case-taking including pain pattern, sensitivity, sleep posture, menstrual history, stress, and past injuries.
Next Steps
I would recommend a personal consultation for proper assessment and individualized treatment rather than taking random medicines. You can consult me directly on Practo so that I can guide you correctly and safely.
Until then, avoid pressure on the area, wear a supportive bra, and avoid repeated touching or checking.
Wishing you good health.
Based on your description of trauma to the area followed by pain and a brownish mark, there are a few common, non-cancerous conditions that can occur. While these are often benign, any new change in breast size, color, or persistent pain should be evaluated by a healthcare professional to ensure an accurate diagnosis.
Possible Benign Causes
Given your history of repeated minor trauma (hitting the area and crowded bus impacts), your symptoms may align with the following:
a)Breast Hematoma:
This is essentially a deep bruise where blood collects inside the breast tissue. It can cause a firm, sometimes painful lump and skin discoloration (like your "brownish mark") that may take several weeks to fade.
b)Fat Necrosis:
When fatty breast tissue is damaged by an injury, it can die and be replaced by scar tissue. This often presents as a firm, sometimes tender area or a "brownish" bruised look. It is not cancerous and does not increase cancer risk, but it can sometimes mimic the appearance of other conditions on a scan.
c)Trauma-Induced Swelling:
Internal inflammation from the original hand-bone injury and subsequent hits can cause localized swelling, which might explain why that breast currently appears marginally larger.
Next Steps
While your lack of "orange peel" texture or redness is a positive sign, you should still take the following steps:
1.Schedule a Clinical Exam: See a doctor or do a Sonography of the breast.
2.Monitor the Size: Note if the size difference increases or if the pain changes from "touch-sensitive" to constant.
3.Track the Mark: See if the brownish mark begins to fade over the next week or two, similar to a healing bruise.
4 Pain Relief: If the pain is uncomfortable, medicines like Arnica or Belladonna may help reduce inflammation and soreness.
5.Support: Wearing a soft, supportive sports bra can sometimes reduce pain triggered by movement or "jerking" of a vehicle.
6.Avoid Further Trauma: Try to protect the area from further bumps, especially during your commute, to allow the tissue to heal
Health Tips
When to Seek Urgent Care
See a doctor immediately if you notice:
The brownish mark turns bright red or feels very hot.
The "marginally larger" breast begins to swell rapidly.
The pain becomes severe or keeps you awake at night.
For further evaluation and treatment consult online or offline with Dr Tanmay Palsule at Chinchwad or Pimple Saudagar clinic.
I suggest instead of worrying, go for a proper check up.
While a simple elbow hurt may not cause blood clotting in a normal subject but there are chances it can be mastitis.
Take proper check up and treatment of required.
Ignoring is not advisable.
Based on your description, this most likely looks like bruise/trauma-related breast or chest wall pain due to repeated pressure and minor hits (sleeping on that side, elbows in crowded buses). The brownish mark supports bruising. Pain only on touch, stretching, or jerks is not typical of breast cancer.
What to do
• Avoid sleeping on the left side for now
• Wear a supportive bra
• Use warm compress once daily
See a doctor if:
• Pain or mark doesn’t improve in 2–3 weeks
• You feel a hard lump
• There are skin or nipple changes
If needed, a breast ultrasound is usually advised at your age (36).
At present, there are no alarming signs.
Hello.
No need to panic.
Usually injuries tend to make some physiological changes w.r.t. appearance, firmness but it might be present with some internal changes .
For that, Get your breast examined by nearby gynaecologist to rule out any lumps also ask for radiological investigation for internal imaging.
We can help you with further treatment homoeopathically.
