If yu have performed exercises and then you got pain then it can be predicted as a cause. But you got to be assured about your condition as such whether it is sumthing which was hiding since long and now it started troubling or its the exercise which went wrong and gave yu muscle strain/ligament injury/meniscal/or other. I feel it's just a quad strain. And can stay 4-6days.
Next Steps
Meet physical therapist or orthopaedic to find out the cause. AND exact problem.
Health Tips
Apply ice pack to reduce further inflammation. Minimize weight bearing if swelling is there. Always plan progressive pattern of workout.
