Kid picks object from floor
My toddler kid (1.5 yrs) will occasionally pick up object from the floor and put in his mouth. We understand most children frequently do this. We are concerned about safety and how to put a stop to it. Do you have any suggestions how to discourage the kid from doing this?

It is a phase they go around, usually younger though they they start crawling and exploring. Try to keep the environment around as clean as possible. Positive reinforcement and reward work better than a firm No/reprimanding him. It is abnormal if they eat mud/sand/clay or chalk preferentially! That would need testing to check for anaemia.
