It's simply writing down your thoughts and feelings to understand them more clearly. And if you struggle with stress, depression, or anxiety there are alternate ways for venting out negative thoughts and feelings. If you are writing your negative emotions as part of venting out (catharsis) i recommend to tear the pages after writing. You can write or draw whatever you feel like.
