ITP after one year of breast cancer.

Asked for Male, 30 Years

In Sept, 15 breast cancer detected in my Mother's breast and it was operated in Oct 15 (mastectomy) . After operation Chemo therapy and Radio therapy given and both therapy completed in March 16. Then Hormone therapy is continue as aromasin. After one year in Feb 17 Platlates count was found very low and some times blood comes from mouth. By consulting with doctor declared Chronic ITP and steroids has been given from last 1.5 months but Platlates count is still in b/w 50K to 80K and worst thing is that swelling has increased so much and now its very hard to eat anything from mouth. Its very painful please suggest something.....

In chronic ITP platelet in range of 60,000 to 80,000 is fine..Swelling may be because of various reasons. Prolonged steroid may also cause but it's also necessary as treatment for ITP. You mat discuss with your physician about need of steroids and other treatment options available and get evaluated for other causes of generalised Swelling.
