Hello Doctors,
I am 27 years old. Since last few days, I have been getting excess anal itching and lot of flatulence especially during night. Sometimes, my stools are not in proper shape and occurs with slight mucus.
Yesterday, I was having mild stomach pain along with flatulence but after having curd with meal, I felt better afterwards.
Could you please suggest what medicines should i take ?
I was thinking of consuming Rediout chewable tablet (albenadazole 400) but not sure when to take.
Please advise. Thank you.

Your symptoms—anal itching at night, excess gas, irregular stool shape, and occasional mucus in stool—can be due to several common causes. One possibility is intestinal worm infestation such as Enterobiasis (pinworm infection), which often causes anal itching especially at night. Another possibility is gut irritation or mild intestinal infection, which can lead to mucus in stool and flatulence.
Since you also felt better after taking curd, it suggests that gut flora imbalance or mild digestive disturbance may also be contributing to your symptoms.
Next Steps
• Taking Albendazole 400 mg as a single dose is commonly used for suspected worm infection. It is usually taken after dinner, and sometimes repeated after 2 weeks if symptoms persist.
• You may also take a probiotic supplement or continue consuming curd/yogurt daily to improve gut bacteria balance.
• If symptoms like persistent mucus in stool, blood in stool, weight loss, or severe abdominal pain occur, consult a doctor for stool examination.
Health Tips
• Maintain good hand hygiene, especially before eating and after using the toilet.
• Keep nails trimmed to prevent reinfection from scratching.
• Wash bed sheets and undergarments regularly, as worm eggs can spread easily.
• Avoid excessive spicy, oily, and junk foods until digestion improves.
If you’d like, you can book an online consultation and share how long these symptoms have been present and whether itching is mainly at night, and I can guide you on whether further tests or medications are needed.
