Is HRIG for rabies mandatory?
Got bit by a small pup 2days back. Small cut with hint of blood. Doc recommended only vaccine regime of 5 shots and no mention of hrig. Is it really necessary?

HRIG depends on category of bite.
Type III dog bite requires immunoglobulin infiltration as soon as possible.

Yeah .
If you haven't taken in your life any dose of hrig then it's necessary to take once time only.
But if your haven't taken and you only take post exposure prophylaxis as 5 shot then it's also good to cure against the rabies.
