Hi Irritable bowel syndrome requires a collaborative care from both psychiatrist and a gastroenterologist. IBS has prominent psychological disturbances also which worsens and maintains the distressing symptoms.
Next Steps
Kindly consult a nearby qualified psychiatrist and also continue your consultation with gastroenterologist. You can try relaxation exercises such as breathing exercises which will be beneficial. You breathe in via nostrils and breathe out via mouth slowly and you must feel each time the air moving in and out of you. This exercise can be done everyday 4-5 times each for about 10 mins.
Health Tips
I presume that the diagnosis of IBS was done properly since you have mentioned the diagnosis and not the symptoms per se. Kindly revert back to me for further clarifications if needed. All the best for your recovery.
