Insomnia. Light sleeping at night.
I am struggling to fall asleep for a few months now. Especially at night. Currently I work in night shift so it works out for me but even during my day shift timing I find it very hard to fall asleep. I work out regularly or even if I am tired from other work I don't feel sleepy. If I happen to sleep after an hour or two I wake up again and it takes me another hour to fall back to sleep. So I end up being in and out of my sleep for more than 8hours. I have been taking otc melatonin supplement for two weeks now. Still it has not properly worked for me.

Shift work affects normal sleep cycle. As it’s part of your job you need to make some life style changes which might help along with medication. Cut down on caffeine intake, avoid any caffeine drinks and smoking at least 4 hours, before your sleep time .use ear plugs and eye covers if you are usually disturbed by slightest of noise or light. Optimisation of melatonin dose and time you take it , try to take at least an hour before your sleep time would help as well. Some medications taken for physical health issues can keep you awake.
Next Steps
If still having problems with sleep consult a psychiatrist online book a appointment through Practo to consult with me
