The sudden onset of swelling, itching, and inflammation across the entire palm and back of the hand — appearing overnight when all was fine before sleep — is most consistent with an allergic reaction to an insect bite or sting during the night, or a contact allergy to something you touched. Combiflam helps with pain but an antihistamine tablet is the key treatment here, as it directly addresses the allergic component causing the swelling and itching. Apply a cold compress to reduce the swelling. Watch carefully for any swelling spreading to your face, lips, or throat, or any breathlessness — these require immediate emergency care.
Next Steps
Take an antihistamine (cetirizine 10mg or loratadine) and apply a cold compress. If swelling spreads to the face or throat or breathing becomes difficult, go to an emergency immediately. Please consult me directly on Practo for a detailed evaluation.

Please wash the affected hand properly with clean water and keep it clean. Apply an ice compress for 10–15 minutes, 3–4 times a day, to help reduce the swelling. Take the following medications: • Tab. Cetirizine 10 mg – 1 tablet once daily, preferably at night. • Tab. Ibuprofen – take 1 tablet after food as prescribed for pain and swelling. If the swelling increases, severe pain develops, or you notice redness, fever, or difficulty moving the hand, please seek medical attention immediately.
