Dear Patient, From your question I understand that you have had a meniscal and cartilage injury previously the reports of which you have not put here. From the x-ray it seems you have a varus knee. In this case doing a meniscus repair/surgery or a cartilage procedure in isolation may not help you. Because, the varus alignment will predispose to higher strains in both cartilage and meniscus. Therefore your surgeon may have suggested an osteotomy ie angle correction surgery.
Next Steps
discuss with your surgeon about all options and clear your doubts regarding osteotomy to me it seems you may not have a clear idea of why he's suggested that surgery.
Health Tips
your age is 44. you have a long life ahead. make a decision clearly and also take all precautions to keep your knees well by keeping a check on body weight, keep muscles strong by doing good exercises.

Looking at ur X-ray's  meniscus surgery won't help u much. Get mri done. Best for you Is to get HTO  if mri is good  ,if not then you might  land up in UKR for best results. Consult online if u still have some doubts .
