Hernia begins as a soft lumps under the skin usually associated with no Pain.Gradually, the pressure of the internal contents against the weak wall increases, and the size of the lump increases. In the initial stages , the hernia may be reducible – It can be pushed back into their normal places. If those structures, however, cannot be returned to their normal locations through manipulation, the hernia is said to be irreducible, or incarcerated (confined). Inguinal hernia which cannot be pushed back or that which is strangulated requires urgent medical attention. At the same time if the hernia is not bothering you much then you can wait for the right time  to have surgery by maintaining right diet and activities. So it can be said like 1 st or 2 nd stages of inguinal hernia can be well managed with ayurvedic treatment relaying on success stories. But 3 rd degree inguinal hernia demands surgical management. There is nothing to get panic over it and even post herniorraphy pain syndrome is not a big deal to manage. Medicaments such as Varunadi kwatha, Rasnadi kwatha, Kankayana vati, Eranda taila, Devadarvadi lepa, Pippalyadi lepa are found effective. But to fix the treatment and dosage further details regarding symptoms, food and bowel habits are necessary. Direct consultation can be chosen. It is very important to say NO to food and activities that cause excess pressure on abdomen such as coughing, laughing, lifting heavy weight etc...food articles causing blotting and heart burn (like beans potato and other Tubers) should be avoided
