Indian food diet for type 2 diabetes
My Dad's sister is diabetic and her blood sugar levels are normally higher than average. What indian foods are good and bad for her . She also has high bp and take medications also.

Hi For diabetes generally all Low GI based foods are good.. Include complex carbs in diet with limited portions, moderate high biological value plant based proteins, low fat or low fat dairy products, mostly home cooked foods, small frequent mini meals, allowed fruits for diabetics are apples, pears, all citrus fruits, guavas, watermelon, pomogranate, kiwi, semi ripe pappaya, grapes etc.. Can consume nuts of almonds and walnuts, plain pista ( without salted) , seeds, high fiber foods, enough water intake per day around 8 to 10 glasses, unstrained fruit juices, no sugar, jaggery , honey, or any sweet based dishes, no large amount of food intake at one time, no to sedentary kind of lifestyle.. Since diabetes is a metabolic disease as that occurs due to imbalances in metabolism ... Healthy lifestyle modifications is recommended... like exercises both morning and evening, brisk walking for 30 mins daily, yoga, surya namaskar or any types of stretching exercises...or bodily movements are strictly advised.. As a general  diabetic  diet foods that are recommended  are moderately  high protein  rich lentils, whole pulses ,sprouts ,egg whites lean meat &fish ,mushrooms  with weighed quantities  of complex carbohydrates  that includes  whole cereals,millets Barley,Rajkheera etc,with good  amount of fibre from variety  of vegetables & selected fruits what we call as low GI foods as long as other parameters  are ok
