ECT is one of the treatment modality for specific indication of depression.One of the indication of ECT is that the patient is not showing improvement after adequate trials with different class of antidepressant drugs with/without psychotherapy.It depend on the clinical profile of the patient and it is not like that to be given to every patient not responding to a particular antidepressant drug.
