Improvement from tmj
I am tmj patient and being treated for this...after more than 2 yrs of dental treatment by I know, even I am not completely normal but I think now I can chew more comfortably than before and my facial appearance is becoming normal which was changed due to tight jaw muscles.... Does it indicate my condition is improving and I will be completely normal after the total treatment? From the x-ray of my tmj and clinical examination my dentist said that my tmj is healthy...But I think my bite is changing very abruptly which makes me feel very much comfortable and anxious.... Can our lower jaw move behind its stable original position and increase the overlapping gap between upper front and lower front teeth? Please help me...

If you think your bite is changing then you should consult immediately to assess if it's due to bony change or any abnormal contacts between opposing surface of upper and lower teeth

Hi.. TMJ like any other joints in our body is combination of bones, muscles, ligaments, and blood vessels.. More than an xray, MRI will be better diagnostic tool for such conditions. Treatments for TMJ is very important especially at this young age as it forms the main basis of movements of the jaws.. which can have effect on teeth, cheeks, facial expressions, talking, eating etc. Treatments include range from conservative like physiotherapy to intervention including with surgery/ without surgery.
Next Steps
consult maxillofacial surgeon who will check the tmj joint
Health Tips
please do not ignore.
