I suffered an impact on my right hand thumbs middle joint 2 months back. Could not see a Dr or get an xray done so no concrete proof of it was fracture.
After 2 and half month I don't experience any pain till it is immobile, however slight pain is experienced when I try to bend my finger fully from the same joint. Although this is bearable even at its peak.
HISTORY: Due to impact skin got ruptured thus blood came out but in 2-3 days this wound healed. Initially there was problem when using my finger, trying to bend or hold something. Now I feel the pain has subsided but there is a large scope of improvement in my condition.
Please tell me, based on symptoms, whether it is a hairline fracture or some ligament damage.
And what all can i do so that i can recover ASAP. Is it advisable to go for exercises like putting thumb inside lukewarm water with salt and try to bend finger without any external force or not or to go for splint to immobilize any movement of thumb, if so how long.

Usually after two and a half month period finger fracture heals if any such was there, you mentioned skin wound healed. Now proper examination of the thumb with a recent x-ray is essential for evaluation to exclude any joint injury and proper rehabilitation.
