Hello. Since you have already completed the full anti-rabies vaccine course on days 0, 3, 7 and 28, a dog bite occurring immediately after completion (day 29) usually does not require a full course again. In most cases, only 2 booster doses on day 0 and day 3 are advised if a new bite occurs. Please ensure the wound is washed well with soap and water. Since management depends on the wound category and exposure, a detailed review would be helpful. You may book an online consultation for proper evaluation and personalized treatment guidance.

Since you already completed the full post-exposure rabies vaccination schedule on Day 0, 3, 7, and 28 using the intradermal method, your body has already developed protective immunity. If the dog bite happened on Day 29 (just one day after completing the course), you are considered protected, and additional rabies vaccine doses are usually NOT required in this situation. The immune response from the completed course is already active.
Next Steps
• First, wash the bite wound thoroughly with soap and running water for 15 minutes if not already done. • Apply povidone-iodine or antiseptic on the wound. • Observe the dog for 10 days if it is a known/accessible dog. • Visit a nearby doctor if the wound is deep, bleeding, or showing signs of infection, as you may need tetanus vaccination or antibiotics. • In most guidelines, no additional rabies vaccine is required when a new bite occurs immediately after completing the full course.
Health Tips
• Always clean animal bites immediately, as proper washing reduces rabies risk significantly. • Avoid touching or provoking stray animals. • If you get another bite months or years later, then usually only 2 booster doses (Day 0 and Day 3) are needed. ⸻ If you want, you can also share whether the bite caused bleeding and whether the dog was stray or pet, and I can guide you more precisely. You can also connect with me through an online consultation if you’d like a quick review of the wound and complete guidance.

If you have already taken rabies vaccine on day 0, 3, 7 and 28, the full course is completed. Usually no extra dose is needed after this schedule.

Based on the severity of bite. If it's a mild scratch or bite, no need to take vaccine because it will be effective for a year. If it's a severe bite, rabies immunoglobulin has to be injected

If a person completed full PEP and is bitten again within a short period, no rabies immunoglobulin (RIG)and booster vaccination is required. Since the bite occurred only one day after completing the vaccination schedule, the patient is already protected. Management 1. Wound Care Wash the wound with soap and running water for at least 15 minutes Apply povidone-iodine or antiseptic Avoid tight bandaging
