I'm having a brain fog.
Hello Doctor, I am a 25-year-old male, weighing 77 kg. I am concerned that I may be experiencing brain fog and would like medical guidance. I notice frequent difficulty recalling things such as: Names of characters from movies or series Names of movies or series I watched recently Names of old friends or relatives Song lyrics Certain words during conversations This feels more than normal forgetfulness and is starting to affect my daily life and communication. In the past, I had low hemoglobin levels, but my most recent blood test showed hemoglobin at 15. I had consulted a doctor earlier, and I was told this could be normal; however, my symptoms have persisted, which is why I am seeking further advice. I would like to know: Could this be related to any vitamin or mineral deficiency (such as Vitamin D, B12, iron, zinc, or magnesium)? Should I consider taking any supplements? Are there specific blood tests you would recommend to diagnose the cause of these symptoms? Thank you

• Yes, these symptoms can be related to vitamin/mineral deficiencies, especially Vitamin B12, Vitamin D, iron stores (ferritin), magnesium, and thyroid imbalance. • Normal hemoglobin does not rule out B12 or iron deficiency–related brain fog.
Next Steps
• CBC with indices • Serum Vitamin B12 • 25-OH Vitamin DFerritin, Iron profile • TSH (± Free T4) • Fasting blood sugar / HbA1cLFT, RFT (basic screening) Supplements: • Do not start blindly. Supplement only if deficiency is confirmed. • Empirical B12 may be considered if levels are borderline or symptoms are significant.
Health Tips
• Get the above tests done. • Review sleep, stress, screen time, anxiety/depression, and medication use. • If tests are normal and symptoms persist, consider neurology or psychiatry evaluation. Red flags (seek urgent care if present): • Progressive memory loss, personality change, seizures, weakness, speech difficulty.
