Soft layer of plaque can be removed by brushing but once it becomes calcified it is called as Calculus and cannot be removed by brushing and needs mechanical cleaning by the dentist by a procedure called as scaling. Regular maintenance by proper brushing and cleaning of the tongue will definitely be required after the procedure also. Please a dentist for a proper clinical examination and get cleaning of your teeth done. Regards.
