I feel alive with alcohol drunk 🥃
Hi , I am Jude Serrao aged 19 years, To be honest I have social anxiety and feel overwhelmed in social situations, however honestly speaking I don't really want to be like this so I chose alcohol, I love drinking till I'm totally drunk I feel more confident and I can truly be myself however it's a shame though I need alcohol for it but without it I'm not really sure how I would manage like honestly speaking alcohol numbs down all my anxiety and I'm more bidas and care free and open and I'm really confident when I'm drunk it feels like the best feeling in the world, however it's a path to self destruction in the long run and I'm aware of it plus I honestly want to be more social but without needing alcohol like also without alcohol my journey seems overlming like hell but with alcohol it gives me strength to be truly myself. However I'm not really sure how to heal though, if possible any little suggestions would be appreciated as I'm kinda a bit lost in a sense but to me alcohol is god

Hi Jude, I hear you. Social anxiety can feel like a huge wall between you and the person you want to be. Right now, alcohol seems like the bridge that lets you cross that wall—it makes you feel confident, free, and like your true self. But deep down, you already know it’s a short-term fix with long-term risks. That awareness is your biggest strength because it means you’re ready to change. Here’s something to think about: Alcohol isn’t making you confident—it’s removing your anxiety temporarily. The real you, the bold and social version of yourself, already exists inside you. Alcohol just silences the fear that holds him back. The key is to learn how to quiet that fear without needing alcohol. Where to Start? 1. Slowly Face Social Anxiety – Start small. Challenge yourself with tiny steps: make eye contact, say a simple “hey” to someone new, or practice speaking in front of a mirror. Confidence grows with repetition, not alcohol. 2. Shift Your Self-Talk – Instead of saying, “I need alcohol to be social,” try, “I’m working on being social without it.” Your brain listens to how you talk to yourself. 3. Controlled Exposure – Try going out sober but with a trusted friend. Set a goal: maybe stay for 30 minutes, then leave if needed. Slowly build tolerance to social settings without alcohol. 4. Calm Your Body First – Anxiety is physical, so learn to manage it: deep breathing, meditation, or even physical activity before social events can help. 5. Therapy & Support – Social anxiety is very treatable with CBT (Cognitive Behavioral Therapy). A therapist can help you rewire your brain’s response to social situations. Right now, alcohol feels like a shortcut to the person you want to be. But true confidence is built, not borrowed. It’s a process, and you don’t have to figure it all out at once. Alcohol acts on GABA pathways in the mind and relives anxiety but is very dangerous in a longer run as it can cause severe dependence and health issues. There are much more safer medications to treat anxiety. Consult a psychiatrist and get proper evaluation done and get treated. Good luck.
