High Uric Acid Levels and Fat Loss
I am 34 years Male/86. 5kg/170cm.I am overweight and my target weight is around 70kg and I am going to gym for fat/weight reduction 5 days a week. I have tested myself couple of days of before(comple blood tests) and reports says that my Uric Acid level is at 11(But normal range 4.2 - 7.3). I am on weight loss program and since last 2-3 weeks I have increased my protien intake mostly via food like eggs, chicken breasts, tofu, paneer, nuts like almonds, Oat meal. I was planning to take whey protien isolate only after my workout one scoop daily,so that my daily requirement of protien reaches 150gms. But since my uric acid is high is it safe to increase protien in diet? Will thid cause kidney related disorders in future? Should I undergo medication to lower the uric acid levels first? PS:Just wanted to add my Total Cholesterol is also 236 which is also on the higher side. Any help will be appreciated. Thanks in advance Rahul Gupta

Its not about how you protein you eat but it's about what kind of protein you take. You should eat natural plants based sources of protein, if you want to avoid the conditions you are suffering from now. Eating higher amount of protein does not mean everything will get assimilated into your system. Body will absorb only what you need, rest will Anyway be excreted out. Remove the causative of problem instead getting into medication.

Your uric acid is high due to high protein intake. It can cause kidney stone, joint problems and in some cases heart problems also (in long run). 150g / day of protein intake will be very high ( recomonded value is 1d/kg/ day). You need to reduce your protein intake, drink plenty of water. There are drugs available to lower the uric acid level, but they are not advisable in your case. If uric acid remains high in spite of above measures then medicines may be started.
