Your wife’s blood sugar levels indicate uncontrolled diabetes, which needs immediate management, especially since you’re planning for pregnancy. Poorly controlled diabetes can increase the risk of complications for both mother and baby, including miscarriage, birth defects, and preterm birth. Steps to Take: 1.Start Medication Immediately – At an HbA1c of 10.6, lifestyle changes alone may not be enough. She may need oral medications or even insulin initially to bring blood sugar under control. Some diabetes medications are not safe during pregnancy, but insulin is considered safe. 2.Diet & Lifestyle Modifications – A strict low-carb, high-fiber diet with portion control, regular physical activity, and weight management are crucial. 4.Monitor Blood Sugar Regularly – Frequent monitoring (fasting, post-meal, and random levels) will help assess progress. 5.Preconception Planning – Ideally, HbA1c should be below 6.5% before trying to conceive to minimize risks. 6.Folic Acid Supplementation – She should start folic acid (at least 5 mg daily) to reduce neural tube defect risks.
Next Steps
Consult an Endocrinologist – She needs a detailed evaluation and a treatment plan. If pregnancy is planned soon, switching to insulin may be recommended.
Health Tips
Starting the right medication at this stage is essential and can be adjusted safely if pregnancy occurs. Avoiding treatment will increase complications.

Hi, yes her sugars are on the higher side. She needs to be evaluated for her uncontrolled diabetes before planning for pregnancy. Better if she tries to get her sugar levels to near normal and then try for pregnancy. Feel free to contact for more queries and details.
