High eosinophils can occur in many conditions: 1. Allergic conditions • Asthma • Allergic rhinitis (hay fever) • Eczema (atopic dermatitis) • Drug allergies 2. Parasitic infections • Especially worm (helminth) infections 3. Skin disorders • Psoriasis • Dermatitis 4. Autoimmune / inflammatory diseases • Vasculitis • Eosinophilic esophagitis 5. Blood disorders • Leukemia • Hypereosinophilic syndrome 6. Other causes • Adrenal insufficiency Symptoms Sometimes there are no symptoms. When present, they depend on the cause: • Wheezing, cough (asthma) • Itching, rash • Abdominal pain or diarrhea (parasites) • Fatigue What to do next If your report shows high eosinophils: • Review absolute eosinophil count (AEC) value • Correlate with symptoms (allergy, infection, etc.) • Doctor may advise: • Stool test (for parasites) • Allergy evaluation • Further blood tests
