High Blood Pressure
Yesterday, I felt sight headache. I went to the doctor and checked my Bp. It reads 160/90. After 4 hours, it reads 140/100. Doctor asks me to take rest and come back today. I have gone to the doctor and check it. It reads 150/100. He suggests that I should take medicine. And asked for CBC, Lipid Profile and SGPT and SGOT test. The result is awaited. Please suggest me.. Is it good to take medicine? Is the medicine, habit forming ? Please suggest further treatment plan ?

**Dear Patient,**  Your blood pressure readings (160/90, 140/100, and 150/100) indicate **Stage 2 Hypertension**, which requires prompt attention. Given your age (34 years) and symptoms like headache, it’s crucial to address this early to prevent long-term complications (e.g., heart disease, kidney damage).  Key Recommendations:**  1. **Medication:**     - Yes, it is advisable to start antihypertensive medication as prescribed by your doctor. These are **not habit-forming** but essential to control your BP and reduce risks.     - Do not stop or adjust doses without consulting your doctor.  2. **Lifestyle Changes:**     - Reduce salt intake, avoid processed foods, and maintain a balanced diet (rich in fruits/vegetables).     - Exercise regularly (30 mins/day, e.g., walking, swimming).     - Limit alcohol, quit smoking, and manage stress (e.g., yoga, meditation).  3. **Tests & Follow-up:**     - Await your CBC, Lipid Profile, and SGPT/SGOT results to rule out underlying conditions (e.g., diabetes, liver/kidney issues).     - Monitor BP daily and maintain a log.  4. **Further Treatment Plan:**     - Your doctor may adjust medication based on test results.     - Regular follow-ups are necessary to assess progress.  *Urgent Advice:**  Hypertension at your age needs **personalized care**. I strongly recommend scheduling a **detailed consultation with me** to tailor a plan for your specific needs.  **Contact me on WhatsApp for further guidance:**  **Eight Zero Zero Nine Eight Two One Three Three Two**

You don't have much choice. With this type of BP readings you have to take the antihypertensive medicine.

The BP readings are above normal range, indicating that you have hypertension.Initially you can try to reduce the salt intake, increase the potassium intake, using lots of fruits and vegetables, physical activity for 30 minutes a day for 5 days in a week for a month or two before you start pharmacological treatment.

You have to start medicine in a low dose. There is no habituation risk. Only thing is watch for any side effects. Quit smoking/ alcohol use, try to avoid stress. Do some pranayam regularly.
Next Steps
get blood sugar random sample and lipid profile done.
Health Tips
Take tablet in morning and monitor B.P for 2 to 3 days both morning and evening for optimising the dose.
