HERPES ZOSTER VIRUS
My father has been diagnosed with Herpes Zoster. His age is 67. We have taken him to the hospital and the treatment started from yesterday. Do there is any vaccination available for this disease. Also let me know if any vaccination is available which my other family members can take, so that it will not happen to other family members

Hi, Very valid question and this requires a detailed explanation. To brief you -
1. Herpes zoster and chicken pox are caused by same virus.
2. Anyone who has got chicken pox in childhood or in the past need not be scared of contracting the virus.
3. However, not from the current stand of point of you of risk - but herpes zoster prevention vaccines do exist.
