Hello! It’s normal to have these reactions to everything that’s going on and all the changes that are happening around us right now. A good start would be to normalise it, to know that it is okay, an appropriate mantra to repeat to yourself - “This too shall pass”. Next, try and pin-point exactly what is making you cry. What thoughts are you thinking when the tears are rolling down? What is the underlying desire that is not being met? What would you want more of or less of? What about working from home is not working? What is the root of your upsetting feeling? Exploratory Socratic Questioning about yourself can be used to understand where you are clear and where you are fuzzy in your thinking and help you gain a deeper insight into yourself. There are two options to deal with this - a quick fix like helping you divert your mind for the time-being, or a permanent solution which will take a lot of time/work/effort. It is not going to be easy to revisit years of unresolved issues that will pop up when you sit to uncover yourself. It’s like your email inbox with years of unopened emails in the form of subconsciously made judgements, preferences, triggers, imprints and much more. So know it’s a process that will take time and the only way to get through it is to enjoy the process. And to enjoy it, you are going to have to find a lot of acceptance and compassion for yourself and everything that comes up in this process of Questioning. We can work a way in which we use a mix of the temporary solution as well as the permanent solution so you can get on with your everyday, high-functioning role/responsibilities you’re committed to. But for this, we’re going to have to understand your situation better, understand your limitations, what you mean by “I’m not able to”. Crying is not bad, infact it can be a healthy coping mechanism too so don’t beat yourself up about it. But an over-the-counter prescription would be : consider therapy, meditation, yoga and other breathing/movement exercises, and practise maintaining a gratitude list.
